Breakfast in Sarandë,
the Albanian way.
Traditional petulla, fresh eggs, halal sausages and warm bread — served on a sea view terrace near Mango Beach. Every morning from 08:00.
Sophra is a family-owned traditional Albanian restaurant near Mango Beach, Sarandë. Before the midday heat sets in, locals and visitors gather here for a genuine Albanian breakfast — not a hotel buffet, not a tourist menu, but the kind of morning spread Albanian families actually put on the table. Open from 08:00, every day.
What We Serve for Breakfast
Byrek, warm petulla, eggs, fresh tomatoes, jam, cucumber, local white cheese, and halal chicken sausages. Built for two people to share properly.
Petulla fried fresh each morning with eggs, cucumber, local white cheese, honey, jam, and tomatoes. The Albanian family breakfast.
Thick-cut French toast, served warm with local honey and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Good with slow coffee while the morning cools down.
Toasted bread, cream cheese, avocado, and cured salmon. For guests who want something lighter before a long beach day.
Thick yogurt, raw honey, cracked walnuts. Simple, clean, and very good.
Farm eggs, local cheese, garden herbs. Ask for what you want in it.
During summer, the sea view terrace fills up quickly after 09:30. Arriving between 08:00 and 09:00 gives you the best tables, the quietest morning, and the full Albanian breakfast experience without waiting. Tables are walk-in only — no reservation needed or accepted.
Sea View, Natural Shade, Free Parking.
Sophra moved to its current location near Mango Beach in 2025. The new site has three things the previous boulevard location did not: natural tree shade across the terrace, a completely unobstructed sea view over the Ionian, and dedicated free parking directly below the entrance.
For guests arriving for breakfast from Ksamil or from Sarandë centre — both about 10 minutes away — this makes the morning logistics simple. Park, walk up, sit down. The Ionian and Corfu are in front of you. The bread is warm.
What is Petulla — and why it matters.
If you have not had Albanian breakfast before, petulla is the dish you will remember. It is a simple fried dough — not a doughnut, not a fritter, something in between — made fresh every morning and served warm with white cheese or jam. In Albanian homes, petulla is the smell of Sunday morning. It is what grandmothers make. It is what most Albanians grew up eating.
At Sophra, petulla is part of both the traditional breakfast and the breakfast for two. It is made in the kitchen the same morning, not bought pre-made. Ask for it with white cheese if you want the savoury version, or with jam if you prefer something sweeter. It goes well with either.
