We start every morning the same way our family always has — fresh petulla from the pan, local white cheese from the villages above Sarandë, and whatever the garden gives us that week. Our salads use fresh vegetables and cold-pressed olive oil. The goat cheese comes from a small producer we have worked with for years. Everything is dressed and assembled when you order it, not before.

Byrek & Traditional Albanian
This section is the heart of what we do. Our brick oven runs on oak wood. Tavë Kosi takes over an hour to bake properly and we will not rush it. The byrek is hand-rolled by the same hands every morning. All lamb and beef here is halal from Kasapi i Prizrenit.

Every cut of chicken, lamb, and beef on this table comes from Kasapi i Prizrenit. The fish — seabass and bream — comes from the Ionian, usually caught that morning. Our wood-oven runs on oak and the meat cooks slowly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the food at Sophra halal?
Yes. All chicken, lamb, and beef on our menu is 100% halal, sourced directly from Kasapi i Prizrenit.
Do you take reservations?
During peak summer (July–August), we are walk-in only — first come, first served. The front-row sea view tables go to whoever arrives first. For groups of 10 or more, contact us in advance.
How far is Sophra from Ksamil?
About 10 minutes by car. We have a large free parking area directly below the restaurant entrance — no stress even in August.
Do you have vegetarian options?
Yes, quite a few. Eggplant casserole, stuffed peppers, three types of byrek, multiple salads, pasta options, and all pizzas are available vegetarian. We also have one fully vegan byrek.
What are the opening hours?
Breakfast 08:00–11:30, lunch 12:00–16:30, dinner 17:00–23:30. The shisha terrace stays open until late.
What should I try first?
If you have never had Albanian food: start with the Albanian Antipasto for two, then try the Tavë Kosi. For mains, the Mixed Meat Platter for 2 or Moussaka. Finish with trilece. That is the full experience.
